Bali, July 2017 – Located on Bali’s southern peninsula, the pristine and 200-meter white sandy beach of Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa are the natural location of choice for nesting sea turtles.
This year, the resort released 248 baby turtles from the hatchery to the ocean on June 21st and July 12th.
The turtle species Olive Ridley (Lepidochelys olivacea) is a sea turtle found in warm and tropical waters,
primarily in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. The adults grow to 60 to 70cm in length on average. Olive Ridley turtles have nesting sites all over the world, on tropical and subtropical beaches. Females lay about a hundred eggs, but may nest up to three times a year. The nesting season is from June to December.
As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the local community, Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa works closely with a local Turtle Conversation “Bali Sea Turtle Society” to retrieve these eggs and ensure the eggs are carefully incubated in a secured environment. Since year 2013, the resort has released 2022 baby turtles to the ocean.
