Golf In Bali

Bali National Golf Club

A Robin Nelson and Rodney Wright designed Hawaiian-style golf course, Bali National Golf Club re-opened in 2014 after undergoing extensive renovations. Bali National Golf Club is located is only a short 5 minute drive from Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa.

The golf course now features new Paspalum turf, with scalloped bunkering lining most fairways and elevated greens. Many of the newly routed holes have lengthened to championship distances as the course now plays to over 7,100 yards from the tips.

Spectacular views of Indian Ocean and the Nusa Dua area are afforded on practically every hole. Hand-built local stonewalls have been incorporated into the golf course design to terrace the sides of fairways and tee boxes. This gives one the impression of the rice field terraces that characterise the Bali countryside.

Shared golf carts are compulsory and one caddy is provided for each golfer. The mature natural setting of Bali National Golf Club provides golfers with one of the best playing experiences on the island.

Nirwana Bali Golf Club

Every golfer dreams of the perfect landscape to play and there is no doubt that the physical characteristics of the Nirwana Bali Golf Course provide just that. Lying on Bali’s southwest coastline at Tanah Lot, Nirwana Bali Golf Club was designed by Greg Norman and opened in July 1997. The course is approximately 1,5 hours drive from Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa.

The golf course overlooks the Indian Ocean and weaves through rice terraces and towering palm trees. Nirwana Bali’s 18-hole golf course is one of the most photographed and challenging golf courses in the world. The breathtaking beauty of this course is highlighted by terraced rice fields forming some of the rough and strategically placed bunkers.

Other holes on the Nirwana course will test the accuracy and consistency of golf professionals while still being enjoyable for the average golfer. Four sets of tees ensure that the right challenge is available for golfers of all abilities.

New Kuta Golf Club

New Kuta Golf is Indonesia’s first links course located at Pecatu-Bali, about 20 minutes driving distance from Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa and 5 minutes from the famous Uluwatu Temple. Carved out of harsh limestone and set on top of brilliant white cliffs that overlook an endless blue horizon, this championship golf course ranks among Asia’s best and most challenging. A magnificent Club House boasts a restaurant, bar, spa and function rooms, with panoramic views of the lush rolling fairways and sea.

Insiders tip: tee-off around 2.00pm in the afternoon to catch a magical sunset typical of Bali.

Bali Handara Kosaido Club

The Bali Handara Kosaido Country Club must be one of the most astonishing golf courses on Bali if not around all of South East Asia. The golf course is set in the lush highlands of Bali and nestled in the crater of a volcano in the mountains of Bedugul; a 2 hour drive from Nusa Dua and 1 hour from Ubud.

The long-journey is definitely worth it. From the low coastal regions the road to the golf course winds around traditional Balinese villages, rice paddies and ascends towards the volcanic mountains. The entrance to the Bali Handara Kosaido Country Club is just past the Lake Bedugul.

Australians Peter Thompson and Michael Wolveridge designed the 18-hole championship golf course in 1974. Mature tree-lined fairways, indigenous flowers, and Bent grass greens characterize the layout. Notable holes include the 3rd, a long 435-yard par-4 that pays downhill to a 90-degree dogleg to the right. The creek along the right side of the fairway prevents cutting over the dogleg and the left side is well guarded by bushes. Driving accuracy is a must to par this hole. The second shot must carry across the water with a long iron to the green.

A day at Bali Handara Kosaido Country Club makes for a relaxed round of golf in an exotic natural setting.
